Guided Imagery & Music
Music Journey, LLC provides a specialized form of music therapy--The Bonny Method of Guided Imagery & Music (GIM). GIM involves the use of music in altered states of consciousness to promote healing, integration, and growth. It can be used to assist clients with empowerment, resilience, depression, anxiety, emotional expression, spirituality, or personal growth.
A typical GIM session begins with a discussion about issues of importance to you to establish an area of focus. Next, the GIM therapist will help you to relax and plays a specifically sequenced music program for you to listen to. While listening to the music, you will describe images, feelings, and sensations you are experiencing. After the music has ended, the GIM therapist will help you to integrate your experience. This may involve talking about your journey or drawing a mandala.
